慢性腎盂腎炎の概念は，米国においては古くから普及していたが，わが国においては比較的最近になつて認識され始め，日常の診療にその概念が広く取り入れられるようになつたのは，ここ数年来のことである。したがつて両者の間で，この疾患に対する考え方，取り扱い方に違いが見られるのは，むしろ当然のことといえよう。筆者がMount Sinai Hosp．（New York, N．Y．；以下MSHと略称する）にresidentとして在籍していた当時の，同病院における本疾患に対する概念を基に，実際に行なわれていたプラクテイカルな2,3の特異点を述べ，慶応病院泌尿器科における最近2年間の慢性腎盂腎炎患者の統計を用いて説明してみた。
The approach to chronic pyelonephritis seems to be somewhat different between the United States and Japan. The auther has reporetd the practical points at Mount Sinai Hospital, that is quantitative urine culture, reading of the I.V.P., selection of medication including combination therapy or Penicillin-Chloramphenicol treatment, medication after negative urine culture and the importance of surgical treatment for the basic disease of chronic pyelonephritis.
The statistical studies was done on the cases of chronic pyelonephritis from Keio University Hospital within the recent 2 years.
