　昨今，病変の場としての結合組織が再認識されるにつれ，その重要構成成分である基質の研究も次第に盛んになつてきており，他方疾患を代謝の面から再検討する試みもまた増大してきている。そしてその場合最も重要なこととして，方法の正鵠性があげられるが，酸性ムコ多糖類（AMPS）の検索については，この方面の研究がなお新らしい分野に属するものだけにとくに強く望まれる。そこで本文では，AMPSの研究に現今用いられている諸法を列挙するとともに，その限界点，優劣に触れながら，筆者が現在行なつている電気泳動法による皮膚および尿AMPS検索成績の一部を紹介し，この方面の今後の研究の参考ともなれば幸せである。

1. Histochemically, negatively charged acid mucopolysaccharides (AMPS_s) have been detected with cations such as alcian blue, toluidine blue or colloidal iron.

Recently the histochemical fractionation of AMPS_s with so-called "critical electrolyte concen-tration method" has been developed. Chondroitin sulfate B being in masked state on this method which is contrary to hyaluronic acid, it is one of the hazards for the histochemical studies on AMPS_s of the skin. How to unmask the MPS may be the first problem.

2. On the other hand biochemical fractionation of AMPS_s has been becoming easier. Electro-phoretic fractionation of AMPS_s may be recommended as one of the excellent methods as well as Suzuki's enzymologic quantitative methods.

The author applied the electrophoretic method for AMPS_s of the skin and urine with cellulose acetate membrane and 0.1M Zinc acetate. Review of the author's own and reported results by others were performed.
