　はじめに

　抗生剤が普及して以来，化膿性耳下腺炎から耳下腺膿瘍を形成することは少なくなっている。

　今回われわれは，本来緊急気道確保に用いられるトラヘルパー^TMの留胃が加療上有効であった耳下腺膿瘍の1症例を経験したので，若干の文献的考察を加えて報告する。

A 12-year-old female with initial diagnosis of mumpsdeveloped abscess of the parotid gland. After a continu-ous drainage from the abscess and systemic administra-tion of antibiotics, she was cured without any sequelae In case of unilateral parotid swelling with tenderness suppurative parotiditis should be ruled out and early administration of antibiotics is needed. Insertion of crico-thyroidotomy needle (Trahelper^TM) was effective for treatment in this case.
