はじめに
以前より，茎状突起の過長や茎突舌骨靱帯の骨化が咽喉頭違和感，顔面痛，頸部痛などの原因となることが知られており，1940年代にEagle1）が本疾患を多数例まとめて報告したことよりEagle症候群とも呼ばれている。診断は臨床症状およびX線所見より比較的容易であるものの，ときに咽頭炎，三叉神経痛，咽喉頭異常感症などとして長期間の保存的治療を受けている場合もあるため注意を要する。今回われわれは，舌骨甲状靱帯の全長にわたる骨化を示したEagle症候群の2症例を経験したので報告する。
The first case presented with radiating pain to the right retroauricular region on swallowing. The sec-ond case complained of periodic pain in the left side of the neck by turning the head to the left. X-ray films showed an elongated styloid process and complete ossification of the stylohyoid ligament between the styloid process and the hyoid bone in both cases.
He received transcervical resection of ossified stylohyoid ligament and had complete disappea-rance of symptoms after the surgery.
