　はじめに

　頸動脈小体腫瘍は比較的まれな疾患で，腫瘍そのものは一般的に良性のものが多いが，化学受容器である頸動脈小体から発生するため，頸動脈と強く癒着している場合は摘出中に大量出血することが多く，頸動脈合併切除を余儀なくされる。

　今回，われわれは，術前にBalloon Matas'testを施行し，対側内頸動脈からのcross circulationの有無を確認することによって，術中，内頸動脈遮断を行い，安全に摘出することができた頸動脈小体腫瘍の1例を経験したので，その概要を報告するとともに，本邦報告例132例の文献的考察を行った。

Since carotid body tumor arises from the bifurca-tion of internal and external carotid artery, it is often difficult to dissect and remove this tumor from the bifurcation.

We encountered one case of carotid body tumor diagnosed by imaging examinations. Preoperative balloon Matas' test was undergone to confirm a cross circulation from the contralateral internal carotid artery. This method appeared to be of value to resect the carotid artery safely and to prevent complications after operation.

132 cases of carotid body tumor were reported in the Japanese literatures.
