　はじめに

　耳鼻咽喉科領域におけるレーザー治療は，Co₂レーザーとNd：YAGレーザーが主流であり，鼻副鼻腔，口腔，喉頭および気管の諸疾患に対して広く行われている。

　最近開発され，米国で広く臨床応用されているKTPレーザーを中耳手術に用いて，その有用性を確認しているので，その使用経験を報告する。

We report the clinical experience of middle ear surgery by the use of KTP laser. This laser gives new and broader application to middle ear surgery which needs delicate operative manipulation, because this laser is excellently absorbed bydamaged middle ear tissue with rich hemoglobin.

The aiming beam and surgical beam are the same, providing superior target accuracy in stapedotomy, removal of affected tissues involving the ossicles, especially the stapes, complete removal of choles-teatoma, removal of affected tissues in the middle ear cavity, and in tumor vaporization. No side effects were observed in 31 ears operated on with this laser.
