はじめに

　最近，熱傷や外傷性皮膚損傷の被覆保護材料として，キチン膜は広く使用されている^1〜5）。われわれは，本材の創傷治癒促進効果，表皮化促進効果，良性肉芽形成効果に着目して，中耳手術に応用して良好な結果を得ているので，その使用経験を報告する。

Chitin, a type of mucopolysaccharide extracted from the crab's crust is widely and clinically used as a new biomaterial. Beschitin-W^® consisting of chitin fibers in sheet form is used as protective wound dressing material for burns and various types of traumatic skin injuries. Because of the promoting effects of Beschitin-W^® on benign granulation and epithelization, we used it in the middle ear surgery. Excellent results were obtained.
