緒言

　喉頭に発生した尋常性疣贅は極めて頻度が低く，確定診断に際し喉頭角化症，扁平上皮性乳頭腫，疣贅性増殖症，疣状癌などと鑑別が困難なことが多い。著者らは声帯に発生し，再三の切除術にもかかわらず旺盛な増生力を示し，遂には喉頭全摘出に到るという興味ある臨床経過を辿った声帯尋常性疣贅の一症例を経験したので，確定診断に至る経緯と診断方法の意義について検討し報告する。

A 66-year-old man presented hoarseness and dyspnea due to a tumor on the bilateral vocal cords. Excision of the tumor was repeated four times for nearly two years. Excised specimens were interpreted as parakeratosis, keratoacanthosis or leukoplakia. Since these procedures failed to prevent the recurrence, a total laryngectomy was performed finally. The diagnosis of the tumor was papilloma, but later histopathological studies of the excised specimens revealed verruca vulgaris. The diagnosis was confirmed by identification of human papilloma virus from the specimens by means of immunoperoxidase technique. Differential diagnosis of this disease was discussed.
