I．はじめに

　頭頸部に発生する平滑筋肉腫は稀である，咽頭に発生した巨大な平滑筋肉腫のため嚥下障害をきたし来院した1症例について報告する。平滑筋肉腫の治療は外科的摘出が最もよいとされるが，本症例ではなしえず放射線治療および化学療法を行った。

A 60-year-old woman was admitted to our hos-pital for investigation of a pharyngeal tumor on the right side that had been causing pharyngeal pain and disturbance of swallowing for two months. A pale lump mass was filling in the right pharyn-geal space. A biopsy specimen was taken from the mass and the histopathological findings revealed leiomyosarcoma. After tracheotomy, she received radiotherapy, but no effect on the mass was detected. And then, she received chemotherapy, so-called CYVAD I C, which diminished tumor size at first, but later no effect was found. The patient died of pneumonia 9 months after admis-sion.
