疾患別にみた高気圧酸素療法の効果

Efficacy of hyperbaric oxygen therapy for various eye diseases

（展示244）　高気圧酸素療法を行った50例58眼について，各疾患別に視力経過を比較検討した。また，発症から治療開始までの期間についても検討した。疾患別にみると，動脈系の疾患に効果が高く，静脈系や視神経炎，視神経症などその他の疾患には効果が低い傾向にあった。また，開始時期については，発症早期だけではなく慢性期においても有効であると思われた。

Background : Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) may be effective in ischemic retinal disorders by reducing hypoxia and edema in the ischemic retina.

Method : We evaluated 58 eyes of 50 patients treated by HBO in the past 5 years. Visual acuity served as parameter of therapeutic effect. Particular attention was paid to the interval between the onset of disease and treatment.

Result : Visual acuity improved in 9 of 19 eyes with central retinal artery occlusion, in 11 of 14 eyes with branch retinal artery occlusion, in 1 of 3 eyes with central retinal vein occlusion and in 2 of 6 eyes with branch retinal vein occlusion. The visual acuity improved in 41% of patients when treated within one week after onset and in 43% when treated 1 month or later after onset.

Conclusion : HBO was more effective for arterial than venous disorders. The treatment was effective both for early and late stage of the diseases.
