　126名224眼の強度近視眼に対し，眼底後極部に流出路を有する異常脈絡膜静脈の頻度および病的意義について，インドシアニングリーン赤外蛍光眼底造影（ICG造影）を用いて検討した。その結果，57眼（25.4％）に後極部に眼外流出路を有する異常な脈絡膜静脈系血管を認めた。その内訳は，乳頭縁から眼外へ流出する脈絡膜視神経鞘静脈が34眼，乳頭縁に連絡せず，黄斑付近に流出路を有する黄斑部渦静脈が25眼であった。したがって，強度近視眼では約1／4の症例において，異常脈絡膜静脈が後極内の脈絡膜血流の流出路として機能していた。また，異常脈絡膜静脈の存在する眼では，強膜を貫く部位で強膜の脆弱性を生じ，近視発生の一因となっている可能性も考えられた。

We performed indocyanine green angiography in 224 myopic eyes. The refraction ranged -8.5 to -28 diopters, average -15.3 diopters. Large confluent choroidal veins were present in the posterior fundus in 57 eyes, 25.4%. In 34 of these eyes, the veins were choriovaginal as they penetrated the sclea along the edge of the optic disc. In the other 25 eyes, they were located near the macula. These veins seemed to function as main routes of posterior choroidal outflow. Possibly, these posterior large choroidal veins induce weakness of the sclera around the sites of penetration and facilitate posterior staphyloma resulting in high myopia.
