　狭隅角眼での毛様体の形態を超音波生体顕微鏡（UBM）で観察した。毛様体の前面と虹彩の後面が接触している所見（虹彩—毛様体接触）が，33眼中26眼（88％）にあった。同様な虹彩—毛様体接触は，正常眼9眼中3眼（33％），開放隅角緑内障眼7眼中2眼（29％）にあった。虹彩—毛様体接触は，前房深度が2.20mm以下の浅前房眼で，より広範囲かつ顕著であった。日本人での狭隅角の成因に，毛様体の前進による虹彩根部の前方移動がある可能性があることを，この所見は示している。

We evaluated the morphological features of the ciliary body in 33 eyes with narrow chamber angle using an ultrasound biomicroscope, UBM. The ciliary body was in apposition with the posterior iris surface in 26 eyes, 88%. A similar apposition was present in 3 of 9 normal eyes (33%) and in 2 of 7 eyes with primary open angle glaucoma (28%) . This apposition was more pronounced in eyes with shallow anterior chamber of less than 2.20mm. The observed finding suggests that anterior displacement of the iris root by the ciliary body may be one of the causative factors of narrow chamber angle in Japanese eyes.
