　15例（22眼）の正常者について，冠状断CTスキャンにより3つの異なる断面で眼窩および内容の局所解剖学的計測を行った。（1）眼窩の縦径，横径，面積：眼窩では前方2断面で縦径が横径よりも大であった。眼窩面積は眼窩の前方から後方へ向かい，直線的に減少した。（2）各外眼筋の厚さ：各筋群とも球後のスライスで最大値を示し，上斜筋が直筋群に比べて小であった。（3）視神経の縦径，横径：全ての断面において横径が縦径よりも有意に大きかった。

　眼窩器官の定量的分析は，精度の高い客観的評価や早期病変の検出に有用であると思われた。

We measured the shape of the bony orbit and orbital contents in 22 eyes of 15 normal persons. We used computed tomography by a coronal scan at three different planes. The longitunal length of the orbit was larger than transversal one in successive two anterior slices. The thickness of extraocular muscles was the highest at the retrobulbar portion. The superior oblique was significantly thinner than either of the rectus muscles. The transversal diameter of the optic nerve was significantly larger than the longitudinal one.
