　単純型糖尿病性網膜症の583眼につきその硝子体の状態を検討した。

　年代別に正常者と比較したところ，後部硝子体界面の観察される例は正常者より多かったが，後部硝子体境界面とグリア環の双方が認められる例は60及び70代で有意に少なかった。

　グリア環の認められる例は乳頭周囲の後部硝子体の剥離が完成していると考えられるが，単純型糖尿病性網膜症の症例においては黄斑前液化腔が形成されることにより後部硝子体剥離率は少なくなると思われた。

We examined the state of the vitreous in 583 eyes with simple diabetic retinopathy.

We could identify the posterior hyaloid mem-brane at a higher incidence than in age-matched controls. In eyes from the 7th and 8 th decade of life with advanced simple retinopathy, we identified the posterior hyaloid membrane and glial ring at a lesser frequency than in age-matched controls.

The presence of a glial ring indicates the pres-ence of posterior vitreous detachment in front of the optic disc. The observed lesser frequency of posterior vitreous detachment in aged diabetic eyes appeared to be related with the premacular lacuna of the vitreous.
