　脈絡膜剥離あるいは毛様体剥離における超音波検査で，眼球後壁が層状分離所見を呈することは以前から指摘されていたが，その所見の意味するところは明らかではなく議論の的であった。今回，低眼圧を呈する症例に超音波検査を行うとともに，家兎を用い前房穿刺により低眼圧を作成し，超音波検査を行い両者を比較し，組織学的にも検討を加え，その層状分離所見の意味するところを低眼圧による脈絡膜の肥厚と考えた。

In the presence of detachment of the choroid or the ciliary body, the posterior ocular coat has been known to appear as two-layered. In order to ascer-tain the cause of this feature, we performed ultra-sonographic studies of ocular hypotony and of rab-bit eyes in which hypotony was induced by para-centesis.

Separation of the ocular coat was a regular ultrasonographic feature in hypotony in human and animal eyes. Histological studies showed hyper-emia and dilatation of choroidal vessels both in rab-bits and in human eyes.
