1978年3月から1980年10月までに福岡大学病院眼科にて，8例のmacular puckerの患者に対して，経毛様体扁平部硝子体手術によりpreretinal rnembraneを剥離除去した。術後合併症として1例に鋸状縁離断をみたが，手術により復位した。結果は良好で，7例に視力の改普がみられ，他の1例は不変で，悪化した例はない。術後6カ月以上追跡した結果ではpreretinal membraneの再発はなく，良好な状態である。
Surgical removal of epiretinal membranes was performed in 8 consecutive eyes with macularpucker with the use of pars plana vitrectomy and membrane peeling technique. The macular pucker developed spontaneously in 2 eyes, after retinal detachment surgery in 2, following retinal vein obstruction in 2, after photocoagulation in 1 and as proliferative reaction in Terson's syndrome in 1. The follow-up period ranged from 6 to 34 months and averaged 15 months.
Postsurgical improvement in visual acuity resulted in 7. The visual acuity remained the same in one eye.
