　両眼性網膜芽細胞腫の8カ月の男児の進行眼を摘出した後に非進行眼に対して視力保存的療法として冷凍凝固術を試みた。初発巣の4乳頭径大の腫瘍に対しては2回の冷凍凝固を行い，後発巣の1乳頭径大の腫瘍に対しては1回の冷凍凝固を行い，ともに腫瘍を消失させ治癒させる事ができた。

　冷凍凝固術は網膜芽細胞腫自体に対して破壊作用を及ぼすと考えられ，中等度の大きさの腫瘍に対しても十分な凝固を反復する事により消退させる事ができる。また手技上からも容易であり，さらに適応を広げて試みられるべき治療方法と考えられる。

A 8-month-old infant with bilateral retinoblas-toma was treated by enucleation of the right eye and transscleral cryoapplication to the left eye in which a single tumor mass, 4 DD in size, was loc-ated near the ora serrata.

Cryoapplication at 40 to 60℃, sustained for one minute, were repeated 6 times over and around the lesion. Because of insufficient shrinkage of tumor mass, the same procedure was repeated one month later. The tumor mass turned into white and pigmented chorioretinal scar 3 months later.

A new tumor mass was detected 6 months after the initial treatment.
