白内障手術後に発現する黄斑部症状に就ては従来比較的等閑視されている感があり，欧米に於ては，D. Harrington，A.C. Hilding，J. Nicholls，R. Irvine，Robert B. Welch等の記載があるが本邦では寡聞未だその報告に接していない。
我々も水晶体嚢外摘出後，著明な黄斑部浮腫と中心窠に一致して桜果実様赤色斑出現をみた症例に遭遇したのでここにその大要を報告して大方の批判を受けたいと思う。
Three cases (a woman aged 64, a man aged 56, and a man aged 57) of macular changes in association with cataract extraction were described.
In all cases extracapsular extraction were executed without any complication, such as prolapse of iris, rupture of vitreous and iridocyclitis during and after the operations.
The macular changes were similar to that observed in central chorioretinitis showing diffuse edema with spots in the macular regions which occured 83 days and 89 days (in the first case), 105 days (in the second case) and 25 days (in tne third case) respectively after the operations with blurred vision and central scotoma.
