一時完全に中断されていた南米諸国への移住が昭和27年12月28日に戦後始めてサントス丸で再開されてより年を追つて盛んになる趨勢にある時，トラコーマ検疫の問題は屡々関係者を悩ましている。
この問題は表面上は比較的簡単に解決されるように見えてその実は色々の因子が複雑に介在する可能性があり，関係のお役所仕事として任せておくことは眼科医の立場からして許されないように思う。
(1) The to-be immigrants with advanced trachoma should advised by doctors to postpone the immigration and be treated with surgical operations which do not leave the obvious scars. This screening, however, must not be too strict. The samples on this subject were shown by slides.
(2) Epidemic keratoconjunctivitis also can not be overlooked. Cautions must be paid for the prevention of infection of epidemic kratoconjunctivitis on the ship.
(3) It seemed recommendable to invite South-American doctors to Japan to exchange the knowlege on trachoma.
