日本各地におけるトラコーマ—トラコーマ検診メモより Ⅰ

Trachoma in Various Districts in Japan

I．緒言

　我々の教室では，トラコーマの一生——即ちトラコーマの出生から終末に至る迄の経過を知ろうと思つて，東京附近及び日本の各地区におけるトラコーマを検診した。その検診方法は，或地区では，生後間もない乳児を対象として，初めの1年牟の間は1〜2週毎に，その後の2年間は1カ月に1回家庭訪問して主としてトラコーマの初発症状と，それの初期トラコーマへの移行の状態を調べ，或地区に於ては，殆ど眼科的な検診や医療を受けたことのない部落を選んで，全住民の検診を行い，又，他の地区では，乳児より学童迄，又は学童及び小中学校の生徒を検診した。

The authors performed mass inspection of Tr. in severa l districts throughout of Japan, which had very high, very low and moderate morbidity of Tr. and reported already onophthalmological periodicals about initial symptoms, the course from initial to late and the state of prevalence.

From the memorandums of the mass inspection, several interesting problems and con-clusive matters of the Tr. in various districts are introduced on this report.

1) Nowadays, in the city of Japan. the morbidity of Tr. is about 1%, in the country or fishing village about 10% ; meanwhile, few village still higher morbidity than 50%.
