南米移住者のトラコーマについて

Trachoma in the emmigrants to South America

　日本の将来の海外発展に対して移住は重要なことであり，又，移住は人口問題や農村問題のみでなく，国際的な問題でもある。しかし現在の国際状勢下において，受入れ国に対し歓迎されるような勝れた移住者を送り出すことは日本海外発展の根本条件の1つである。戦後昭和27年にアマゾン開発の移住第1陣が出されてから之等移住者が年々増加して行くことは誠に喜ばしいことであるが，他方移住者のトラコーマ罹患については入国検疫も嚴重となり，移住関係者はその対策に頭を悩ましている次第である。今度山口医大の大石教授が輸送監督として南米各地を視察調査され，本誌に豊富な学識と経験より「南米移住者のトラコーマ」の1文を掲載されることゝなり，これで移住者のトラコーマ問題も改善されるものと信ずる。

　私は昭和30年4月より昭和32年10月迄に神戸移住あっせん所で検査した10973名（政府渡航費貸出者のみ）の眼疾について報告し，之等移住者の現況を諸家に於いても認識を深められ合せて御協力をお願い致します。

As the increase in emmigrants for South America the examination on trachoma is beco-ming more strictly, and the participants are at great pains to device the counter-move against it. Author examined the eyes of emmigrants from April in 1955 till Oct. in 1957 at Kobe Emmigration Center. The percentage of trachoma in emmigrants decreased in such a way, 29% in 1955, 14% in 1956, and 9% in 1957. The decreasing tendency is much indebted to not only the efforts of the emmigrants but also the favours of the appointed physicaians.
