　眼疾患で気象乃至季節との関連性を論じられているのは，主としてアレルギー性の炎症，殊に春季カタル，フリユクテンを始めとする結角膜組織のそれであり，その他では緑内障である。今，網膜疾患についてみると，萩野（名大環研）が中心性網膜炎に考慮を払つた記載をみるに過ぎないのであつて，まして自発剥離のような網膜や硝子体の変性病機を基調とする疾患の発症が，気象や季節に関連する等とは，まず考えにくい事柄のようである。

　それにも拘らず，この論題をとりあげた理由は，私共のクリニツクで1954，'55，'56の3年つづいて，毎年7，8月頃になると剥離患者の入院が殖え，病床の回転に困難した印象を得たことがその一つであり，今一つは西独のKiel大学と伊国のFirenze大学での各統計観察報告の中に，四季についての頃で，何れも「夏に多く，冬に少い」と述べられていることである。

The spontaneous retinal detachment was examined for the distributions of the time of development in 116 eyes, picked out of 123 eyes of the 111 patients in the Eye Clinic Hiro-shima Univ. Hospital on condition that they were clear and inferable on the time of deve-lopment.

The results were as follows :

The ratio for development in summer season-June, July, and August-was comparatively high ; for all eyes…30.2%, and for 80 eyes less than 2 months in the period since the develop-ment (from the consciousness of a defect of the visual field to hospitalization)…35.0%.
