緒言

　前編^1）に於て山口県下に於けるトラコーマモデル地区として大島郡東和町を選び，全町の小中学校生徒の集団治療4カ月の成績を述べた。

　そもそもトラ撲滅運動の理想的方法は一定地域内の全住民を対象として実施すべきで，単に治療が容易である為に学童のみを重点的に行うのでは満足すべき成果は挙げ難い。特に現在学童のトラは比較的軽症或は疑似症を主とし，抗生物質の治療対象としては適当であるが，全民となると陳旧頑症例も少くないのでその成績にも多少の差違があることと思われる。

Results of the mass treatment which was once or twice instillations of 1% Terramycin ointment a day and Keining's massage for a part of patients, and was performed against all habitants of Okikamuro Island for 3 months, were as follows :Number of patients among 1328 examinees was 359 (27.2%). Patients of advanced age were the most and patients of school age were less than those of advanced age. Patients in the prime of life were a little. 89.6% of all patients were cured, 7.5% of them got better and 3.7% showed no change. 39 of 56 severe cases (69.6%), 237 of 255 slight cases (92.9%) and 42 of 44 susp-ected cases (95.9%) were cured.
