真鍋島におけるトラコーマ集団検診及び集団治療成績

Mass Examination and Treatment of Trachoma in Manabe-shima

I．緒言

　吾々の教室では，先にトラコーマ（以下Tr．と略す）集団治療モデル地区として岡山県笠岡市神島外浦地区及び白石島を選定し，その成績について報告したが，更に今回は真鍋島についてのTr．集団検診及び集団治療成績を報告する。

　真鍋島は笠岡港の南方約24kmの所にあり，連絡船にて約2時間半を要する瀬戸内海に浮かぶ風光明美な小島である。全島民2500名で農業68.0％，農漁兼業26.8％，商業4.8％，工業0.4％である。島には診療所があり内科医が1名いるのみで眼科疾患は容易には治療され難い状態にあり，自然の状態におけるTr．の生態を観察するのに適していると思い集団治療モデル地区に選定した。

Mass examination and treatment of trachoma for 2,500 population of Manabe-shima district of Kasaoka city, which was nominated as a model district for this purpose, were carried out and the results were reported.

32.64% of the population had visited our clinic, of which 42.89% were found to be affected with trachoma. The relations between the mobidity rate and age and sex, and that of trachoma and pannus were described. Proliferation of papillae and follicles was observed under the treatment by 1% terramycin ointment administered between Nov.7, 1957 and Feb.28, 1958, the healing rate being 79.91%.
