緒言

　硝子体嚢胞は1898年，Thompson^1）による報告をもつて嚆矢とするが，わが国においては，1941年の清水による報告例を初めとして，過去に6症例を数えるのみである。今回，われわれは硝子体嚢胞と思われる1例を経験したので，その眼科的所見と文献的考察とを併わせて報告する。

Paucity of the reported cases with the con-genital vitreous cyst in Japan encouraged us to report this case. (Only six reported cases are available). A casual inspection of the left ocular fundus of a 41-year-old woman disclosed the presence of the pigmented vitreous cyst with the conspicuous size of about 8 to 9 times as large as a disc. Furthermore, a constriction on the surface of the cyst divided the cyst into upper and lower compartments, which might be worthy of special emphasis. Lack of asso-ciated pathologic occurrence in the left eye per-mitted us to ascribe the origin of the cyst presumably to the congenital one.
