I．研究目的

　Lawrenceの腎性糖尿には，PrediabetesおよびChe—mical diabetesが多数潜在するといわれているが，その眼底所見を検討することによつて，糖尿病発症以前の網膜の様相を把握しようと試みた。

Fundus examination was conducted in 34 cases of Lawrence's renal glycosuria. Further 52 cases of diabetes (26 cases of borderline type and 26 cases of normal type) served as controls. Fol-lowing results were obtained:

1. Microaneurysms : The typical microaneu-rysms with their diameter of more than 1/4 of an arteriole were present in 17 out of 34 cases (50%) of Lawrence's renal glycosuria. These microancurysms were confirmed on color and fluorescein fundus photographs. The microaneu-ryems of this type could be confirmed in 15% of normal types and in 50% of borderline types of diabetes mellitus.
