I．緒言
題して「TrachomaとGlycerin」というはTrachomaの病原的研究に当りて，私はGlyce—rinに負うことの大なるものがあり，殊にその培養上，開発せらるるところあつたがためである。ここに，その由来と成果の大要を挙げることとした。
The present author has been engaged for years in an attempt to identify the etiological agent of trachoma and succeeded in the discovery of "Trachomyces"as its causative organism. A story is told here how the accidental use of glycerin as the preservative medium of inocu-lated tissue used in the experiment led the discovery of the multiply of Trachomyces.
The tissue culture of the supposed organism responsible for trachoma was first made with the use of rabbit testicles as the culture me-dium.
