I．緒言
近視は今次戦争前は非常に高率であったが戦争により激減し，その後再増加しつつある。かく半世紀の間に近視が著しく増減したことは近視が先天的素因のみならず後天的影響によつても起ることを示すものである。（第1図）
A summarized view of the author about the etiology and prophylactic measures against myopia is presented. Pseudomyopia can result from abnormal tonus of the ciliary muscle after inordinate near work. The increased ciliary tonus causes also elongation of the axial length of the eye. An irreversible in-crease in the refractive power of the cryta-lline lens, on the other hand, does not result from sustained accommodation.
