視距離の起点

The starting point of visual distance.

　視空間にある以上，視距は片時も視から離れる事は出来ない。

　視距（視距離）は其名の示す通り2点間の間隔である筈で，一方の視物に対して他方の1点即ち起点は自覚の有無に拘らず必ずなければならぬ。従来，視距に関する研究は少なくないがこの起点（中心）については未だ明かにされていない様である。例えば，起点を無視したまま視物の遠近を論じたり或は随意に起点を仮定して視距を検べたり，甚だしきは視距を数量的に扱う際，特別の根拠もなく中心起点を両眼の中間に置く等の例があつた。起点のない視距はあり得ないし，又誤つた位置に起点をおいては，幾ら精密な測定を試みてもその結果は確実でない事もあり得る。

For the perception of distance, in addition to the visual object there should be a start-ing point regardless of the question of cons-ciousness, This starting point was studied in this investigation.

In this study, the individual sits down and without moving the trunk the visual dista-nce of one given visual object is determined. The visual line is moved in various directions and the visual object can be seen indirectly but the visual distance does not change. Moreover, there is no change even though the face is rotated or tilted in any direction.
