眼精疲労の臨床

Asthenopia, from the clinical point of view.

I．眼精疲労診療上の問題点

　診療多忙の折などに，頑固な眼精疲労を訴える患者に接すると，正直な所うんざりすることがある。病気をなおし患者の苦痛を和らげるのは医師の務めであると，万々承知はしておりながら，内心では，眼精疲労を厄介と思うのは私ひとりでないと思うのだが，その理由を考えてみると，

（1）眼精疲労として訴えられる症状は，全く患者の自覚的なもので，他覚的には捉え難い。--近点連続測定による近点遠隔とか，調節時間の変容が，眼精疲労の推移を量的にあらわしていると思われる場合もあるにはあるが，いつもそうとは限らない。

The treatment of patients with asthenopic complaints should first be directed at detecting the underlying illness responsible for the sym-ptoms. The diagnosis of idiopathic asthenopia can only be established after exclusion of eve-ry possibe causative organic illness. According to the author s'opinion the obstinate idiopathic asthenopia can be likened to neurosis in an analogous way. The importance is stressed to treat such subjects also from the psychop-athological point of view.
