ステロイドホルモン製剤による急性球後視神経炎の早期治療について

Treatment with corticosteroids in early stadium of acute retrobulbar optic neuritis

Ⅰ．緒言

　早期診断及び早期治療ということは総ての疾患における医療の原則ではあるが，急性球後視神経炎については，かつて治療そのものはあまり影響を与えず，むしろ各症例における諸種条件の相異によつて夫々個有の治癒経過を取るものと考えられていた。又，事実，本症の多くは，可成り著明な自然治癒の傾向を有しており，ACTHやコーチゾンが使用されるようになつた後も，その有効性についてはなお多少の疑問が抱かれていた。しかし，近年，ステロイドホルモン（以下S．H．と略）の種々の合成製剤が使用されるに及んで，その本症に対する治効は，多くの報告例が示すように，もはや，疑う余地のないものとなりつつある。我々も，ここ数年来，急性球後視神経炎に対するS．H．治療を行い，特に，その早期治療に関して2,3の知見を得たので追加報告する。

A report is given about systemic cortico-steroid therapy in 10 patients suffering fromacute retrobulbar optic neuritis. A good reco-very of vision occurred within four to six days in two cases who received corticosteroids one day after the onset of the disease. In a group of five patients in whom the treatment started two days after the onset, the time of recovery varied from fourteen to ninety days, one of these suffering from recurrent attacks three years later. The other cases underwent the therapy five to nine days after the onset. Three eyes in this group showed deffective healings with insufficient recovery of vision.
