Purpose:To evaluate the effect of photodynamic therapy(PDT)for subfoveal neovascularization with or without adjunct use of subtenon triamcinolone acetonide. Cases and Method:This retrospective study comprised 68 eyes of 68 patients who received PDT during the past 8 months. Fifty-one eyes received PDT alone and 17 eyes received additional subtenon triamcinolone. Outcome was evaluated 3 months after treatment. Results:There was no difference in logMAR visual acuity or changes in foveal thickness between the two groups. Amount of reduction of greatest linear dimension of neovascular lesion was significantly greater in eyes receiving triamcinolone(p<0.01). Conclusion:PDT is more effective in reducing the size of subfoveal neovascularization 3 months after treatment with the adjunctive use of subtenon triamcinolone.
