序論

　頭蓋内に発生する真珠腫は稀なもので，諸外国の統計^1）2）3）では全脳腫瘍の0.6〜1.5％に存するが，我が国の報告例は明治39年山村^4）の剖検例に始まり，現在まで20数例^{5）6）7）8）}に過ぎず（第1表），昭和32年桂^9）の我が国脳外科に於ける脳腫瘍の統計でも，全腫瘍3097例中24例（0.8％）という極めてまれな腫瘍である。

　本腫瘍は術前又は死亡前に診断することは困難であり，又良性腫瘍であるのに治験例は意外に少く，大半が剖検例の報告である。我々は最近巨大な本腫瘍の摘出に成功したが，現在迄の本邦報告例につき考察を加えた。

A large parapontine epidermoid, weighed 80g. was totally removed with success under hypothermic anesthesia. This case, 49 years old woman, showed typical syndrome of cere-bello-pontine angle tumor for about 3 years, but not trigerninal neuralgia. In this case, it was characteristic that simple roentgenograms of the skull revealed a bone-destroying lesion at the subocciput. The area of destruction of the skull measured 2.0 by 1.5 cm. in dia-meter and bordered on a garland-like shadow.

Intracranial epidermoids in Japan were also reviewed.
