要旨　粘血便，微熱を訴えて来院した41歳の男性例について報告する．入院後の糞便検査で赤痢アメーバ栄養型と思われる虫体を検出．内視鏡的にも直腸～結腸にactive stageの潰瘍を確認，また血清反応（ゲル内沈降反応，間接螢光抗体法）も陽性で赤痢アメーバ症と診断した．患者は独身で，結婚歴，海外渡航歴を有せず，20歳時より不特定多数の男性とのみ同性愛行為を続けてきた．梅毒血清反応についてもTPHA，RPR，ガラス板法のいずれもが陽性で，これらの所見より，男性同性愛者間のアメーバの伝播によるいわゆるsexually-transmitted amoebiasisの1例と考えられた．

　The present communication deals with a symptomatic case of intestinal amoebiasis which seemed to be attributable to sexually-acquired infection in Japan. The case was a 41 year-old Japanese homosexual man with diarrhea as the chief complaint. Stool examination conducted after admission demonstrated actively-motile trophozoites of amoeba. Subsequent trichrome staining indicated that the morphological characteristics of the parasite conformed to those of Entamoeba histolytica. The serologic testings for amoebiasis were highly positive. TPHA and nontreponemal antigen tests were also found positive. These data appear to be well in accord with those of sexually-transmitted amoebiasis of male homosexuals in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada.
