要旨　小腸疾患の内視鏡診断や内視鏡治療の分野はこれまで消化器内視鏡の分野における暗黒大陸であったが，カプセル内視鏡とダブルバルーン内視鏡の登場により小腸疾患の内視鏡診断学が大きく前進した．また，ダブルバルーン内視鏡を用いた内視鏡治療の有効性と安全性が広く認知されることにより，小腸疾患に対する内視鏡治療はプッシュ式内視鏡や術中内視鏡が主体であった時代から，ダブルバルーン内視鏡を用いた内視鏡治療を中心とする時代へと移行しつつある．本稿では，ダブルバルーン内視鏡を用いた内視鏡的止血術，内視鏡的拡張術，ステント留置，ポリペクトミー，EMRなどにつき概説する．

　Endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of small bowel diseases have been a dark continent thus far. With the advent of wireless capsule endoscopy and double balloon endoscopy, a field of endoscopic diagnosis for small intestinal diseases has been significantly advanced. As the effectiveness and safety of endoscopic treatment, using double balloon endoscopy, have been widely recognized, there is a shift from the era of push enteroscopy and intraoperative endoscopy to an era of double balloon endoscopy for the endoscopic treatment of small intestinal diseases. We shall describe endoscopic hemostasis, endoscopic dilation, stent placement, polypectomy, and endoscopic mucosal resection, using double balloon endoscopy.
