Gastric acid secretion in the post-Helicobacter pylori era

要旨

日本人において，Helicobacter pylori（H. pylori：HP）の慢性感染は，大部分の症例で胃酸分泌の低下をもたらしていた。H. pylori感染率の急激な低下とともに，この状況は一変し，Post HP時代の日本人の酸分泌は，低値を呈することはほとんどなくなると予想される。この現象は，日本人においてGERDの有病率の増加に反映されていると考えられる。Post HP時代にさらに日本人の酸分泌が増加していくかどうかに関しては，H. pylori陰性者での酸分泌の動向が重要である。

　Among Japanese, chronic infection with H. pylori resulted in decreased gastric acid secretion in most cases. With the rapid decline in the H. pylori infection rate, this situation is changing drastically, and it is expected that the acid secretion level in Japanese people in the post-HP era will almost never decrease. This phenomenon is reflected in the increased prevalence of GERD in Japan. The trend of acid secretion in H. pylori-negative subjects is important to determine whether acid secretion in Japanese people will further increase in the post-HP era.
