We recently developed a new nipple reconstruction method that applies an existing nipple transplant method and a U-shaped split thickness skin flap. It is a simple design that does not require discarding the epidermis; it also improves circulation by increasing the contact area with the graft, and it maintains the height of the reconstructed nipple. We have additionally devised a new nipple reconstruction technique that uses a composite graft consisting of skin subcutaneous fat and a U-shaped split-thickness skin flap. These new nipple reconstruction methods are acceptable and useful to patients because of the abundance of donor sites and the lack of new scarring in the breast. The methods are also useful for the secondary reconstruction of transplanted nipples with reduced height.
