Arterial infusion chemotherapy for advanced cancer as a palliative setting

動注化学療法は高い局所治療効果を期待できるが，昨今のがん薬物療法の進歩とともに，動注化学療法を施行する機会は減ってきていると思われる。しかしながら，実臨床では全身薬物療法に不応または不耐の症例が存在し，そのような状況においては，動注化学療法は治療選択肢の一つとなり得る。局所の病勢コントロールにより症状緩和につながることもあり，また延命効果も期待できる。

Systemic therapy for various cancers has been markedly developing, and a recent trend is that systemic therapy including immune checkpoint inhibitor and molecular targeted agent is introduced into the treatment for advanced cancers. As a results, arterial infusion chemotherapy has been performed with a lower frequency. However, arterial infusion chemotherapy can enhance antitumor effects and reduce systemic toxicity because of direct infusion of antitumor agents into tumors at a higher concentration. Arterial infusion chemotherapy may be one treatment option for patients with advanced cancer refractory and unsuitable to standard systemic therapy.
