Common infections of the hepato-biliary-pancreatic region, such as liver abscess and cholangitis are mainly caused by bacteria. Treatment with antibiotics is the standard therapy. However, there are also rare infections of the hepato-biliary-pancreatic region which cannot be treated with antibiotics. Rare infections include amoebic liver abscess, echinococcosis, fascioliasis, clonorchiasis, opisthorchis, schistosomiasis, and giardiasis. Amoebic liver abscess, echinococcosis, and fascioliasis makes lesions in the liver. Fascioliasis, clonorchiasis, and opisthorchis causes the abnormalities in the biliary system. Clonorchiasis and giardiasis has been reported to pancreatic lesion. This paper describes the outlines focused on the imaging of the rare infections in the hepato-biliary-pancreatic region.
