Purpose: This study aimed to clarify learning motivation increase among nursing students through interaction with clinical instructors/teachers during nursing clinical practicum.

Methods: Group interviews were conducted with 15 students who had experienced at least one clinical practicum during a four-year nursing program at a university using Modified Grounded Theory Approach for data analysis.

Results: The following indicate【A category】and ≪A concept≫. 【Increase in motivation through an interactive relationship with clinical instructors or teachers】, which arrived at a level where ≪Our motivation increases sufficiently to make us act eagerly by ourselves by having the results of our nursing approved≫ via【Our motivation increases by our efforts being approved】and ≪We are relieved and increasingly motivated by involvement that gives a clear direction≫.

Conclusion: The instructors/teachers' careful involvement with and approval of what the students have done increased their motivation. Therefore, the findings indicated the importance of approving the students' behavior and efforts after provision of guidance, even if the instructors/teachers had provided strict guidance depending on circumstances.
