Purpose

The aim of this study is to create a model syllabus that includes educational content on radiation disaster nursing and to create a systematic model of academic disaster nursing.

Methods

We compared two studies, “Components of Radiation Disaster Nursing” (Sato b, 2019) and “Basic Knowledge of Radiation Disaster Nursing Required for Nursing Students” (Sato a, 2019). We metaintegrated these studies and created “Educational Content of Radiation Disaster Nursing” (Study 1). The learning objectives of Nursing Practice in Disasters of the Nursing Education Model Core Curriculum were then compared to Study 1. We created a model syllabus, Disaster Nursing, which includes a radiation disaster nursing component (Study 2). We also verified the validity, completeness, and necessity of the model syllabus at a professional meeting of disaster nursing experts (Study 3).

Conclusion

We created a model syllabus for disaster nursing that includes four items concerning “educational content of radiation disaster nursing.” One credit is 30 hours and one of the 15 lessons is on the subject of radiation disasters with the theme of “basic knowledge of radiation, the health impact of radiation, and radiation exposure risk assessment.”
