Purpose: To clarify the situation with respect to nursing care conducted immediately before and after the atomic bombing of Nagasaki in 1945.

Method: Data was collected by taking dictation, also called oral history method.

Finding: The nurse had been executing relief activity to the radiation victims immediately after the atomic bombing with a sense of duty as a nurse. The background of the times, pre‐war nursing education contributed to the nurse's relief activities immediately after the atomic bombing, in the disaster areas.

Conclusion: Even though the nurse's role and the received education are changed, the nursing attitude has not changed. Nurses still wish that people's needs are fulfilled safely and comfortably, at all time.
