We administered a line bisection test, A line cancellation test and a design copying test to 19 patients with unilateral spatial neglect (USN), and investigated relationships between the paper tests and ADL assessments. Most of the paper tests showed significant correlation with the ADL assessments, and they proved to be useful for anticipating problems caused by USN and level of independence in ADL based on the results of those tests. In addition, seriousness classification of the Fukui and unilateral spatial agnosia checklist of Okawa seemed to be useful when specific neglect symptoms and compensation ability were evaluated. From what has been said above, we discussed characteristics of the paper tests and the importance of synthetic assessment of the paper tests and the ADL assessments with careful consideration to assessments of physical functions.
