In this study, we examined 150 stroke patients using a quantitative sensory disturbance test. The results were evaluated in relation to their motor disturbance. We investigated the structure of sensory disturbance and the relationship between sensory disturbance and motor disturbance.

 1) Judging from the distribution of frequency, there was a conspicuous tendency toward bipolarization in discrimination sensory disturbance.

 2) The difference in the degree of difficulty among sensory tests was mainly due to the relationships among various sensory disturbance.

 3) There was a negligible level of correlation between sensory disturbance and motor disturbance.

On top of the above-mentioned, we also found out that the discrimination sensory test was highly difficult for the stroke patients, and that many cases of dysesthesia were observed among the stroke patient.

We'll have to pursue further quantification of the sensory test; also, the influence of dysesthesia should be clarified in the future.
