  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Computer assisted surgery systems such as preoperative planner, surgical navigation, and surgical robot have been recently introduced in some orthopaedic fields. The first robotic system is ROBODOC, which was devel-oped to assist precise bone preparation for joint replacement arthoplasties. In ROBODOC total hip and total knee arthroplasties, preoperative planning is made on individual CT data and the bony beds for implants are prepared with a milling cutter controlled by the robot arm. It assists surgeons to achieve good fit and fill of implants to the bone without fracture or pulmonary embolism.
