　インテリジェント手術道具を使ったロボット手術は，すでに普及しつつあるといって過言ではない．人間ができることをロボットが模倣して行う必要はない．人間には困難なことをロボットが代替するのがロボット手術の原則である．ロボットが得意なのは，どんな環境下においても正確に微細な手術ができることである．外科医の新しい手としてのマニピュレータや，computer aided design（CAD）に基づく正確なcomputer aided manipulation（CAM）によるミクロン単位での手術方法が確立しつつある．

It is no exaggeration when we make the statement that robotics surgery is technology that is already in wide-spread use. It is not necessary to model the robot on the surgeon's procedure. The aim of robotic surgery is to ablate accurately the target lesion under any environment. Use of the manipulator as an advanced hand for sur-geons and accurate computer aided manipulation (CAM) based on computer aided design (CAD), is becoming an established surgical technique at the micron level.
