Hormones secreted by adipocytes

脂肪細胞は，レプチンの発見以来，様々なペプチドホルモンやサイトカインなど生理活性物質を産生・分泌する内分泌細胞であると考えられるようになってきた．脂肪細胞から分泌される生理活性物質はアディポカイン(アディポサイトカイン)と総称されるが，食欲・代謝・循環・生殖など，様々な生理機能の調節に，中枢性および末梢性に重要な作用を担っており，代謝症候群・糖尿病・高血圧などの病態に関与している事実が明らかになってきた．本稿では，アディポカインのうち，ペプチドホルモンに焦点をしぼり概説したい．

Since the discovery of leptin, adipocytes have been considered to be endocrine cells which secrete various peptide hormones and cytokines.　Bioactive substances secreted from adipocytes are called adipokines (adipocytokines), and play important roles in the regulation of various physiological functions in the central nervous system and the peripheral tissues, such as appetite, energy expenditure, circulation and reproduction, and in the pathophysiology of the metabolic syndrome, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, etc.　This review article focuses on peptide hormones secreted from adipokines.
