  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Aberrant salivary tissue found in the middle ear (choristoma) was reported. The patient also showed congenital paralysis of the right lower lip, hyperplastic change and downward dislocation of the facial nerve in the horizontal portion and malformation of the ossicular chain.

Nine cases of choristoma combined with other abnomalities have already been reported in the literature.

We discussed the etiology of this combined disease and proposed to call this anomaly as "Choristoma anomalad". Because the anomalad means a series of anomalies exist simultaneously, and one anomaly can be the cause of the next anomaly, and this also the third and so on.
