Progressive increase in the population in the cancer age group may result in an increase of the incidence of multiple primary malignant neoplasms.

The first case, a 11-year-old boy, showed bilateral retinoblastoma in four months after birth, and he developed hemangiopericytoma in the ethmoid sinus as the second neoplasm in spite of being well from the primary lesion. No such a case had been reported until present. The second case, a 56-year-old man, who had been operated on for laryngealcancer thirteen years previously, developed malignant lymphoma as the second malignancy, but had no sign of recurrence of the initial one. The third case was a 62-year-old man, and lie had synchronously developed two primary cancers involving of the right parotid gland and the gum. The fourth case, a 76-year-old woman, developed the second primary tumor in the palate seventeen months after the surgery for thyroid cancer.

The time lapse between the primary and secondary lesions was over ten years in case 1 and 2, and these cases were well and without recurrence from the initial malignancy. Progressive increase in the cure and survival rates resulting from the improved method of cancer detection and therapy should permit the occurrence of additional primary malignant neoplasms in the same individual.
