Two cases of papillary adenocarcinoma among children are reported. The first case, a male aged 7, died of acute glottal edema following bronchoscopy.
The second case, a male aged 5, gradually developed an increasing non-tender cervical mass associated with dyspnea upon exertion. A total thyroidectomy with repeated extirpation of metastatic cervical lymph nodes was effective. The post-operative treatment consisted of administration of dessicated thyroids. The child is at present living and doing well; his physical development is within normal range.
So far, approximately 60 cases of childhood carcinoma have been reported in the literature of this country. The second case of the present report appears to be the second youngest in their age groups. The most of the tumors reported were classified as papillary adenocarcinoma and the prognosis of which appear to be good.
